I really like the square format... although I'm not sure if it works best with a subject matter such as this. Still, it makes it feel more compact overall and I like the composition in that sense.
I think it's great how you've managed to capture this from your point of view, as it gives us a more... superior feel to it all, as if we were high above them looking down sort of thing.
The bright colours in the background influence the atmosphere and mood to great effect. I like how you've managed to capture some motion and movement there to contrast with the stillness elsewhere.
